Built From the Footings Up
The pretty part of a deck is the last ten percent of the work. The ninety percent that matters is below: footings poured below the frost line so the deck doesn't heave, framing sized and spaced for real loads, ledger connections flashed and fastened so water never gets a foothold. Skip any of it and the deck tells on you in five years. We don't skip any of it.
Common Questions
Wood or composite — how do I choose?
- Wood costs less up front and takes stain beautifully, but wants maintenance every few years. Composite costs more up front and then mostly leaves you alone. We'll price your layout both ways so the trade-off is real numbers, not theory.
Can you build on a slope or walkout?
- Yes — sloped lots are half our deck work. Elevated decks get engineered posts, bracing, and railings to match the height.
Do you design the deck with us?
- That's how it works. We look at the house, how you'll use the space, and the yard, then lay out size, level changes, stairs, and features together before a post is set.
My deck is old — repair or replace?
- We'll look at the structure and give you an honest read. Sound framing with tired boards is a great repair. A failing frame is money better spent on new.
